*Spring Time Tasty Treat*

"Drunken Poached Pears"
over
"Homemade Ice Cream"

Tasty Treat / Drunken Prears
tion. Giddy like a child waiting for her allowance. Then you want to pour the ice cream in a resalable container & freeze for about 1 - 2 hrs depending on how firm you like it... Get out all your toppings, that pretty bowl and dig in.
Tasty Treat / Poached Drunken Pears over Fresh Churned Ice Cream
Spring Time has arrived. What would be more rewarding than a refreshing dessert to ring in the spring. With temperatures in the 70's  around  the tri-state area, ice cream is a tasty treat. Served over drunken poached pears is an indulgence with rewards...

-------------------------------------
Why buy ice cream, when you can make a heart healthy version yourself... I know your saying, who has the time? You do, you really do. Your going to be so proud of yourself and wonder why you haven't tried this before...

----------------------------------
First thing first, the ice cream machine. You don't have to get fancy. For about $55 you can buy a Cuisinart that makes about 1 1/2 quarts 6 - 10 serv... I purchased mine from Macy's, but I'm a frequent shopper their, so I pay attention to their sale strategy. Theirs nothing that Macy's sell, that I can't find at a bargain. My suggestion is to always compare prices. Never give up unnecessary money when you don't have too.

----------------------------------
Once you found the right ice cream maker to fit your budget, rinse out the insert (the bowl) and freeze it. This should be done the day before your going to make the ice cream. This is what freezes the cream while mixing, turning it into ice cream... Don't forget to rinse out the mixing bowl & refreeze for the next batch. I leave my mixing bowl in the freezer, so when I get that urge coming on, I have ice cream in 2 - 3 hrs.

--------------------------------------
Now the fun part, figuring out what kind of ice cream you want to eat.. My mouth is watering thinking about it. Of course the first ice cream I made was vanilla, super simple. That can be your base for other flavors once you've found that perfect recipe, A recipe book should come with your machine, but you can find several recipes on line, under your brand of ice cream machine. Your basic ingredients are, cream, sugar, pure vanilla, sea salt, maybe eggs depending on the consistency your looking for. Mix all ingredients in a separate bowl, then refrigerate for at least 1hr (don't skip that step or your mixture may not firm up properly). When mixture chills, attache ice cream mixing bowl to machine, pour in mixture and turn on machine for about 20 mins.

----------------------------------

Don't stand their like I did, amused at my creation

--------------------------------------

The truth of the matter is, I love the freedom of knowing what I put into my body, and this is as close as you'll get to all natural ice cream. I use agave nectar instead of sugar, which is a great substitute for diabetics.Try coconut milk if your vegan. Either or, If it's made from love and you can't go wrong. Get the family involved and see who makes the best ice cream. I have several favorites now, and the list grows.
